Simon joined the aluminum industry in 2001. At the company ALMET AG (formerly Service Center of the French PECHINEY Group), he began with the purchase and sale of aluminum semi- and processed products.

Mid 2005, Simon started at Alcan International Network (Vienna Group subsidiary of ALCAN Group, later RIO TINTO / ALCAN). There he worked as a sales representative and gathered substantial experience in the following years in the field of semi-finished aluminum. He also devoted himself to the introduction of Six Sigma quality management methods and was responsible for implementing these in Austria and Eastern Europe. Later he took over the sales management in Austria.
